I agree with u..but am equally confused
Agree, I had put thought about only one side of the coin, and you have completed it by saying about the other side. I am also totally confused and as you have written in your previous mail "Ignorance is the bliss" but we are among few unfortunate/fortunate ones who are not blessed with bliss :-))
ReplyDeletewhats the necessity of poetry in a world,
ReplyDeletethat offers more ways of expression
films, photos...
factual and abstract to a viewers perception..
Does poetry serve a means of expression in todays age or time?
Is Sarfaroshi ki tamana suplanted by a single image of Che Guevera?
I may have been wrong....
Sumit I think Kranti for all its imprefections does strike a cord with just that aam admi...
kavita kaa adhaar sjayad sirf ek admi ko sochne ya samaje ne ko majboor kare bas kaafi hai...
Ive visited and revisited this page atleast 5 times...and will do time and again
thanks....thats all I can say
nice thought, aaj ke samay mein poetry ka maksad logon ko entertain karne se jyada kuchh nahi rah gaya hai. Kewal hum jaise kuchh duffer poetry mein mayne(matlab) dhoondhate hain. Aur ya phir shayar/kavi apne aapko entertain karta rahta hai jaisa ki main karta hoon. Aur aar log sachhi filmon aur photos ko bhi samjhe aur kuchh chnage aaye to phir kya baat hai..
ReplyDeleteAs Naseeruddin Shah once told "Films can not change the society, they can change only hair style". hope one Naseer will be proved wrong.
you are right, photo of Che is only a delusion.
ReplyDeleteSumit,
ReplyDeletenice stuff.I liked your Pragativaad and Haalaavaad poetry better then chayavad :) (if i understood correctly what these vaad's mean).
I also feel it is important for us to understand our social responsiblity. But some time i feel we think of the poor only when we see
some rich fellow spending millions on his wedding (Even i find myself thinking in the same way) but I feel poverty and prosperity should be thought of seperately.I also think there is a bit of truth in the saying "Man is the master of his destiny".
Today i saw a beggar he had 4-5 children, similarly i saw the documentary "Ravish ki report" where thsi fellow was showing that a man earning 5k
has 8 mouths to feed trying to make us feel guilty.I was like what the heck man.Doesnt this man know "his" responsiblities.
Sometime i feel poor are more responsible for their poverty then the fat cats.Who asked this guy to have 8 childrens man.Had he got only
1 or 2 children he would given them good education and i dont think its that difficult to get a job in India if you are willing to work.
You know me man ,i am not a capitalist supporter trying to run I away from our responsiblities. But i feel we dont need to feel guilty everytime
we see a poor fellow. Some beggars have made poverty there buisness.I think we need a "mental" kranti where everyone understands there responsiblities and start planning their life. And we have a bigger responsiblity towards sick and handicap then towards the poor in general.
Gaurav,
ReplyDeleteNice thought and a very good indication you have made in your comment about the business of poverty. Very true and you/we are correct
(say 50%) but probably it is more true in cities.
Though I agree with you about the fact that "man is the master of his destiny". A beggar having 8 children seems so stupid for us, but I will now go back to the theory of evolution and survival (you probably know all these). Why in the early days human used to have more kids
* child mortality rate was pretty high, so if you have more kids then there is a chance at least 1-2 will survive.
* death rates were more as we did not have access/treatment for the diseases (which are very normal now), so again at the end it is same story, at least one survive till 30 he will be able to procreate and pass on the gene to next generation.
* In the modern era, poor think that (with above points valid) if more children survive, then there will be more family member earning and they can have decent living.
so same thing is still alive among most of the poor people in villages and small towns.
One interesting thing which is very sparsely documented is that the reason for rich and middle class having more kid.
For rich, they always have enough money and babysitters to take care of the kids and for Middle class man it was a way to show in the society that he is very capable sexually and financially :-) let me know if you disagree.
That is why if we really want to make/create a really developed society then we need to answer some basic survival questions. In any third world country (as the developed/rich nation address them) it is important to understand these things, but unfortunately it not happening (mostly).
You know in US (most of the Indians believe that there is no poverty) they collect stuffs (food, cloth etc) for the poor and try to provide them at least basic things like good nutritious food, decent home and decent education. so there are poor and will be some who are left in this interesting race (rat race), but in the end of the day they also should be taken care of but only with basic stuff nothing more :-)
One more thing is that not everybody gets a chance to work. This is a wrong notion is any country. I know there are lot of lazy people around, but in most of the place even if you want to work you do not have job (kalahandi in Orissa). and also we should not expect a poor farmer to work as peon (read it efficiently) after his land is taken for paltry amount for setting up an industry.
other interesting but very true fact for having more kid is that few people now want to have more kid so that their race out numbers another race in number game (another rat race)
